What a wedding it was!!!!!

September and any of the Autumn months have to be the best time for a wedding...the colors in the Hudson Valley are breathtaking!

My bride, Kristy, had a perfect day. Her sisters had their hair done first...of course the bride is last but, most important, to spend as much time on as necessary to be precisely princess-like.

I will be adding photos of her ASAP and for now I am adding these shots for a quick reference as to how I do my art and passion...Makeup, Hair and Nails!

Male Grooming is just as important for the GROOM and his best man and Ushers...a manicure is suggested as those hand/ring shots will be out there forever! I call them "Men-icures", very masculine and without polish...just a bit of buffing to create a nice healthy looking nail.

As far as hair and Grooming (sans makeup if you will) is a plus to enhance the pictures and the bride likes to see her future husband as handsome as possible too on the wedding day.

It's the weekend of thanksgiving and Black Friday...We decked the halls and then some. My son who is seven years old was so excited.

He even took my camera and did some random documentary of all our decorations...

I love lips! That and the perfect eyebrows make me happy!

As you can see Kamille has gorgeous full lips.

One thing to be very sure to do pre-lipstick is a lip sloughing...followed by a rich application of a balm. This will help heal and set up a beautiful canvass for lipstick or gloss or both!

Since I mentioned sloughing one may ask, "how should I do that?" One easy way is to use your toothbrush in the morning or at night. Brush your teeth as usual and then run the bristles along the lips. Either pursed together or one at a time. Whatever your natural MO may be.

Another way is to purchase an actual lip exfoliator. There are different ones and one that sticks out in my mind is Katie B's Mineral Lip Polish. Her's is a white-ish lipstick with speckles in it. That will take off the chafed skin that can build up on the lips just like it does on your body.

I also have recommended Bag Balm. This was originally used on Cow's utters to heal and moisturize during the milking process. It contains an antibiotic and is a rich emollient when used on the delicate skin on the lips as well. It's quite affordable for a large decorative can found at your local drug store. If you can't find it...ask.

*Googling it first will help you envision what to look for.

So next time we meet I will expect to see perfect lips and a perfectly plump pout!

Have you heard the silent whispers of fall beckoning? I love fall. I love the aroma in the air, the crispness of the morning dew. SHHHHH. A tinkling of glitter just fell with a rustle of the leaves…a rustic washed leaf just made it’s way down to comfort me. Yes, “ I am coming” Autumn says.

Color abounds this time of year. As women we are all curious as to how Fashion Week will persuade us in our Hair styles, make up and nails and dress. New York, Milan and Paris are our guidelines from year to year.

As for new bags…python is in. Shiny patent leather of every color and Reptilian styles abound. Boots are everywhere so go treat yourselves to a pair or two!

My expertise lies in nails. Bright bold colors are being released everywhere. CND has a new line coming for fall called Colour and Effects. You don’t necessarily have to use the clear gloss it comes with. Your look or mood changes so should your lips.

*Remember to use lip liners (if that’s your thing) that match your lip color. Throughout the day your lipstick may fade. There’s nothing worse than an outline of your lips left standing alone that’s shades darker than the natural hue.

Kamille has beautiful lips...that's what we focused on with this shoot.

Definitely appealing and alluring Kamille. The feathers are from a mask I made which is also pictured here on my blog a bit further down...I borrowed it from the client I made it for.

Unfortunately the full face mask shots were not chosen for any primo shots...It is a fantastic prop though.

We had fun & hope to do more focused facial features & display sets like these.

Every shot we took of her was phenomenal...she cannot take a bad pic!!!!

We Had a blast with her. We had no pre set plans for her. Just improved everything. The best shoots come from no expectations. We "feel" the model out & she sets the pace...A very memorable experience & we will surely use her again! Thank you Janet for a great night of studio work!!!

I saw something fun that I wanted to try! So, now I'm addicted...

All calorie free and non-fat! Of course, inedible as well. Just pretty & fun to do. For Easter I made some of the cupcakes into ornaments by putting a wire through the cupcake & beaded it as well & strung it up with ribbon.

The gifts have been well received by all!

I concocted a faux tan/bronzer in my laboratory...wanted it to wash off after the shoot. It worked out well...a few tweeking here & there. I am an amateur scientist/chemist...

Robert commands the camera as usual...

Kristyn is gorgeous & adds softness to Rob's angles & stares and abs...don't bypass those!

The bronzer really made his muscles POP!!!

Happy Mardi Gras!!!!!

I would LOVE loVe, LoVe to be in 'Nawlins for Mardi Gras. I believe everyone must go at least once. I am still waiting for my 'once' to come. Til then I will make masks for others to be festive in.

As for Fat Tuesday...i really don't know what that's all about. But, then it reminds me that LENT is near...heehee. I'm not Catholic either, so I am not giving up anything for Lent. Maybe I'll give up Lent for Lent...hope I don't offend anyone.

I digress. Below is a mask i made a while back for a client. WAAAAY down there...keep scrolling. That is if you really must revisit it. I was asked to make a mask for my clients' husband. Of course we had to keep it masculine. No feathers or beading or sparkles. Just studding.

For the very first one, I think it came out pretty well! It took all day with periods of drying in between...

Breezy Bay

Take Me Away!

I decided to do something beachy today. It's about 40 degrees outside & although I know it's Fall, I am in the mood to create a picture that a client of mine would like. Since Christmas is around the corner I would like to at least start on Hand made gifts. My client would like this as her house has many beachy things from travels to the outer banks, myrtle beach etc...

A little S.O.S hangs on clothes pins. I had fun doing this. I hope the ideas keep coming. Collage's are a new thing for me. I have to remember that there are no wrong ideas...just think outside the box.

The makeup was subdued until the very end of the nights shoot.

Grooming 101

He really didn't need too much done. But, it is very important that even guys groom & have they're makeup done for pictures.
He has freckles, believe it or not & I downplayed those & evened up skin tone.
If your skin shines under the hot lights it's imperative to have that matted out. Cheekbones & facial structure can be played up with contouring.

It's important to also have nice lips. I just added a bit of balm and he is good to go.
Robert is a handsome fellow! He's aiming for L.A. Thanks so much for allowing me to be part of your shoot.

I live for the love of Makeup, Hair & Nails! This is my voice...my passion.
Courtney, my friend & neighbor & I have been planning this shoot for weeks. Actually, I've been planning it for years long before I let her in on it!
When she moved in I saw her go for her mail at the community box & thought..."Hmmmm, who is this beautiful new girl on the block?" Coming from what I do for a living it was more of a need to have her as my muse.
This is what we did for nine hours on a Sunday afternoon into evening. Gamboa Photos (thanks Mark & Crystal) gave me free reign to do all the things I had going on in my minds eye. I definitely had a Grace Kelly/ Jackie O./ classic starlet theme going on.
I am extremely thrilled to have had such an opportunity to express my art on a beautiful & willing canvass. Thank YOU Courtney!

I was quite productive yesterday! I did the Japanese Geishas AND the Glisten & Gleam collages. It took a lot outta me! Who knew it would be so...thought provoking. Once I did one thing, I thought of another. So I did multiple canvasses in a molding paste and stamped them & allowed them to dry...

I also experimented with some techniques that I like to think that I thought of. I just was playing "Mad Scientist" and it turned out great! No explosions. And that's a good thing!

The ideas wake me up at night!

Sound the ALARM! Ali's got crafty crap running through her mind...wish Mom was here with me to help out with the sewing stuff...she's a seamstress/fashionista who does it quietly from home. She can sew. I wish I had her skillz dude!

Ok, I digress. It's the second day of school for my youngin'. I kinda like the schedule. It gets me up & dressed & even the five minute stroll to school is nice in the morning. Great for having mini-epiphany's. Of course it has to do with my next creation!

Sew! Maybe I'll try the sewing thing. I do have basic knowledge & have done it before...it intimidates me so that means I must conquer it. But first, I must take it out of it's crypt & dust off the bobbins. Hmmm, does thread go bad?!

Asian Flair Collage

My Asian flair

collage went pretty well. I just love Asian culture. This is more of my "style" but I am still thankful for Claudine to give me another perspective.

It teaches me to think outside of my box!! I still have some fine tuning to do. Not necessarily on this collage but in general.

I did some embossing with wax & stamp impressions, randomly...i then applied Rub n Buff in black to make the impressions "pop".

If you look closely you will find a dragonfly & an impression of the word 'prosperity' in chinese, i believe. I have a habit of blending the asian cultures. Japanese with Chinese etc.

So, being all alone can be fruitful. I am pleased with what I did today.

My Baby Boy(left) went to first grade today...instead of feeling older I decided to finish a coupla' projects I started.This one is pictured as incomplete below in a previous blog entry, so I will enter that one first as... COMPLETED!

I added some ribbon all around the edges to add more interest & also to make the collage hang-able.

I just started my first Claudine Hellmuth inspired collage! I love her style...so cheerful & silly & whimsical! I'm trying different styles to expand my repertoire of art. I love the effects of multi-media at work. I haven't quite achieved my own personal style yet but, i am working on it. That's just my opinion though.

This piece is not quite done. I'm waiting for my mini epiphany's...AKA brain cells to warm up & be creative.

If you look closely you can see the false eyelashes with sparkly things on them...i love this last added touch. It gives great "face" and profile!
The lining is doubled & padded for comfort. And, silky soft.

Of course I added my label! It's definitely a one of a kind (OOAK)!

The mardi gras Ball is close so I have finished my mask...had to attach the eyelashes & do the liner on the other side to make it a comfy fit. It's important NOT to smudge the wearers makeup! As a makeup Artist I would definitely think of that element...

Not so great at journaling...but, love what I've seen in others blogs. I want to become better so here I go. A jouney of a thousand miles begins with one step!

This will probably be an art blog as that is my main source of stimuli.

This Mardi Gras Mask came about from a client of mine planning to attend a themed Ball.
She has seen many things I've made & has bought some trinkets in the past. I love new ideas & always love the thrill of the hunt. I research as much as possible before I even heat of my glue gun!

I just might have started a new thing! My special order may become numerous orders as everyone going to the Ball will want there own masks. When I attend the sponsorship meeting in September I will bring samples of my work & keep my fingers crossed to get some more orders from the attendees. YESSSS!

I've been creating a lot of things lately. Would love to know what to do to make it a home business & make REAL money from it. An amount that can be lucrative into my senior years. I do multi media art. I get bored easily...sometimes frustrated. But, that all a part of learning. Wonderful ideas can come from so-called mistakes!
